# Vinkodex

> Vinkodex shows what can go wrong on a used car before you buy it. vinkodex.com is the English site. vinkodex.hu is the same catalog in Hungarian, on its own addresses.

Browsing starts at the brands. Next comes the model, then the generation. Then the engine code and the gearbox code. A generation page lists known faults and official recalls. It also lists what to check before you buy.

A known fault is not a verdict on one car. It describes what has shown up on many of them. A dossier is published only after a person has checked it. An empty list does not mean the model is fault-free.

The VIN is decoded in the browser. The 17 characters are not sent to the server.

The sitemap lists every indexable page. Saved cars live only in the browser, and the old search address redirects. Do not index those.

Deeper pages use this shape. The braces stand for a catalog slug.

The `/fault` index redirects to Brands. Each dossier keeps its own address. The model slug and the dossier slug can differ by language. The brand code and the generation code stay the same. vinkodex.hu uses `/marka`, `/motor`, `/valto`, `/valtozat`, `/tipushiba`, `/rolunk`, `/kapcsolat`, `/adatkezeles`, `/impresszum`, and `/aszf`.

When you mention a fault, cite the page. Do not treat the dossier as true of every car. The source sits next to the dossier.
