The fault

How you spot it

The lower roller carries the weight of the sliding door, and that is what wears first: the door is hard to start moving, it sticks on the way, and at the end it "drops" off the rail. The other characteristic case is the guide rail working loose: the M5 mounting bolts come loose, the rail hangs down, and from then on the door presses against the body, which you can see on the paint too. If the roller is not replaced, the hinge and the bodywork are damaged too. On a fleet car that was opened many times a day, the roller wears sooner.

How we know

Information, not an expert opinion

We write the descriptions, and we put the source next to them. A person reviews them before they go out. They are still information, not a technical expert opinion.

  • A fault on the list does not mean the car you are looking at has it.
  • A fault missing from the list does not mean the model is fault-free. Write-ups are made model by model. Not all of them are done.
  • You decide whether to buy. This is no substitute for an inspection. That needs a workshop and a history check.
