The front right-hand axle shafts may have been produced with lower material strength.
If an affected vehicle is frequently driven under certain conditions where higher torque is applied to the front axle shafts, such as rapid acceleration when starting, the shaft may break, leading to loss of driving force and increased the risk of an accident.

Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing (Toyota) is recalling certain 2019 Toyota C-HR vehicles. The rear axle hub bearing bolts may have been insufficiently tightened, causing the bolts to loosen and damage the rear brake components or cause a rear wheel to detach.
Risk: If the bolts loosen and damage the rear brake components, or cause a rear wheel to detach, it would increase the risk of a crash.
Remedy: Toyota will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the rear axle hub bearing bolts. If a bolt is found to be loose or detached, the
dealer will replace the rear axle hub bearing assembly and rear axle carrier sub-assembly, free of charge. The recall began November 6, 2018. Owners may contact Toyota customer service at 1-888-270-9371. Toyota's number for this recall is J0Y.

The screws retaining the wheel bearings on the hub port of the rear axle may not have been sufficiently tightened and can become loose. As a consequence, the screws can detach during use of the vehicle. If this occurs during rotation of the wheels, it can damage elements of the braking system on the rear axle, or may cause the wheels to detach.

Toyota Motor Engineering & Manufacturing (Toyota) is recalling certain 2018 Toyota CH-R vehicles. The electronic parking brake (EPB) may not operate properly, possibly causing the parking brake not to disengage after it is applied or prevent it from being applied. As such, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard FMVSS number 135, "Light Vehicle Brake Systems."
Risk: If the EPB cannot be applied, there is an increased risk of a vehicle rollaway if the vehicle is parked on a hill without being placed into "Park."
Remedy: Toyota has notified owners, and dealers will update the programming of the skid control ECU as necessary, free of charge. The recall began on November 30, 2017. Owners may contact Toyota at 1-800-331-4331. Toyota's number for this recall is H0W.

The radar sensor may malfunction due to a faulty installation. This can result in a failure to detect a vehicle in front through the PCS (pre-collision system), which will not provide warnings or brake assistance and the vehicle will not show the driver a message or indicator that the PCS is not working. This may increase the risk of an accident. The product does not comply with the Regulation on the approval and market surveillance of Motor Vehicles and their trailers, and of systems, components and separate technical units intended for such vehicles.

Insufficient pressing of parts in the high pressure fuel pump can cause movement of the cylinder in the fuel pump through which the piston moves. This can create wear between the cylinder and the pump body, resulting in increased stress on valves and/or movement valve seat inside the pump body. This increased stress can cause a crack in the weld of the affected valves, which could lead to a fuel leak, increasing the risk of fire. The product does not comply with the Regulation on the approval and market surveillance of motor vehicles and their trailers, and of systems, components and separate technical units intended for such vehicles.

The engine wire harness has a cover attached where it is connected to the hybrid vehicle Power Control Unit. Due to assembly variation, a portion of the wire harness could contact the cover. If dust has accumulated on the wire harness or the cover, vibration during vehicle use may cause the insulation on the wires to wear over time and expose the core wire, causing an electrical short circuit to occur between the damaged wires and generate heat. If sufficient heat is generated, there is an increased risk of fire.
