MQ200 / MQ250 manual gearbox: differential bearing and synchros

The light, magnesium cased MQ200 and the MQ250, sized for higher torque, are the most widespread manual gearboxes in the transverse engine VAG models.

1.0 TSI: an injector that will not seal, fuel leaking into the cylinder

DQ200 (7 speed dry DSG): mechatronics

A thin wall of the mechatronics valve body can crack, which causes a loss of pressure.

EA211 (1.0 to 1.5 TSI): water pump and thermostat module leak

In the EA211 the water pump and the thermostat are one plastic module, and the pump is driven not by the timing belt but by a separate toothed belt behind the exhaust camshaft.

The seven speed dry DSG jerks and cannot find a gear

The seven speed dry DSG often starts shifting hesitantly as early as 30,000 to 50,000 km: it does not shift smoothly, sometimes it cannot find the gear, and it jerks worst in slow, congested traffic.
