Known faults

1 important faults

The fuel injector can crack, and petrol leaks into the engine bay. According to the authority it can ignite on a hot engine or exhaust component. The leak does not necessarily drip: it can evaporate through the crack.

Ford issued four campaigns between 2022 and 2025, and two of them recall the cars that had been repaired incorrectly (25V165000 and 25V467000). A completed earlier recall does not mean the car is sound.

What to check

  • Open the bonnet when cold and smell: a fuel smell means a leak
  • Look for a damp or freshly cleaned patch around the injectors and the intake
  • Smell again when warm after starting: the crack leaks more when hot

Information, not an expert opinion

We write the descriptions, and we put the source next to them. A person reviews them before they go out. They are still information, not a technical expert opinion.

  • A fault on the list does not mean the car you are looking at has it.
  • A fault missing from the list does not mean the model is fault-free. Write-ups are made model by model. Not all of them are done.
  • You decide whether to buy. This is no substitute for an inspection. That needs a workshop and a history check.
